چکیده
Background: The study's objective was to evaluate and compare total serum protein, albumin, thyroid hormones in children with PEM (protein-energy malnutrition) healthy controls. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 100 served as cases, while an equal number of age gender-matched 4 ml venous blood were taken (3 a plain vial 1 EDTA vial) immediately submitted for further investigation. SPSS software (version 25) used analyze the data. A p value ≤0.05 considered statistically significant. Results: have lower albumin level, T3 (TT3), T4 (TT4) levels compared controls (p<0.0001). Mean TSH cases nearly similar. There no significant difference between concentrations Grade I had highest mean T3, levels, followed by grades II, III, IV. When each grade controls, substantially Conclusions: low protein levels. This is probably due decreased oral intake proteins reduced biosynthesis. Serum TT3 TT4 are than which most likely reduction circulating plasma proteins.

متن کاملSerum magnesium levels in protein-energy malnutrition.
Serum magnesium levels were measured by atomic absorption spectrophotometry in 46 malnourished and 12 healthy children, aged 3 months to 5 years. The nutritional status of children was classified in relation to weight for age and height for age using the Indian Academy of Pediatrics and the Waterlow classifications, respectively. NCHS data were used for the purposes of comparison. Serum magnesi...
